- AOSIS OpenJournals takes over the publication and converts to open access:

- AOSIS OpenJournals provides training workshops on how to use the Open Journals Systems software at various universities in South Africa.
- Koedoe becomes the first South African journal to be fully published and converted to open access by AOSIS OpenJournals.

- AOSIS OpenJournals commissions the development of the advertisement plugin for Open Journals Systems (OJS) and donates the plugin to the Public Knowledge Project (PKP) to add to the standard OJS version.
